DARE TO DREAM
(Note: This exhibit may appear as part of or separate from Space: A Journey to Our Future)
DARE TO DREAM
is a touring exhibition on the history of space exploration.
The exhibit examines amazing past discoveries and explorations
from ancient views of outer space through the Apollo program.
Developed as a historical companion to Space: A Journey to Our Future, the exhibit takes visitors back to mankind's first notions of exploring the universe, and chronologically tells the historical story of manned spaceflight that took us to the moon.
In Dare to Dream, visitors interact with history in a series of specially created experiences:
- Visit Galileo's Studio. Look through Galileo's telescope to provide a conceptual link between the "human" visible sky of stars, moon and the expansion of our concept of the universe by looking through a simple optical instrument.
- Saturn V Launch. Reenactment of a Saturn V rocket launch re-creates some of the excitement surrounding countdown to one of the most remarkable engineering feats of all time-sending man to the moon
- Ancient Cosmology. Displays ranging from an Aztec calendar to a recreation of Stonehenge.
- Timeline of the Space Race. Displays, videos, artifacts and narrative bridge great discoveries, daring experiments and innovative breakthroughs that mark the history of the early days of manned spaceflight.
Along the way, interactive experiences and displays transport visitors to moments and discoveries over time...
